Privacy Policy

GetIcelandic.com does not collect any personal data

If we do not collect your information, then it cannot be stolen, leaked, demanded, and/or abused. Not collecting your personal data is the ultimate demonstration of our commitment to safeguarding your online privacy.

How GetIcelandic.com defines "personal data"

Our definition of personal data is based on the privacy laws and regulations of the European Union (EU), including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). These are widely regarded as the strongest privacy protections in the world. We consider any information about you or your behavior that can be traced back to you as personal data.

We don’t serve any tracking or identifying cookies

You usually hear about "good" and "bad" cookies. What about "no" cookies? Cookies are small pieces of data that are sent to your hard drive by websites you visit. "Bad" cookies have unique elements that can track all kinds of personal information. We don’t serve any of those. In fact, GetIcelandic.com does not even serve any "good" cookies. We serve NO COOKIES.

What happens to your data beyond GetIcelandic.com

Once you click on an external link, you leave our site and our privacy protection, and our privacy policy no longer applies. This is true for all external links. Websites that we link to will have their own privacy policies.

We are not responsible for these external Websites and their privacy policies and practices. In addition, if you linked to our Website from an external site, we cannot be responsible for the privacy policies and practices of the owners and operators of that external Website and recommend that you check the privacy policy of that external site.

We do not disclose or sell your contact information

If you contact us via email or any other method to provide site feedback or for any other reason, we may use your contact information to respond to you. We won’t sell or share this info with anyone else without your explicit consent. All correspondence will be permanently deleted as soon as the issue(s) communicated to us are resolved. We may not acknowledge or reply to any or all feedback or other emails or other communications, at our sole and absolute discretion.

We will never comply with any voluntary surveillance program

Fortunately, we are based in Iceland, where we have strong laws that protect your right to privacy. European governments can’t legally force service providers like GetIcelandic.com to implement a blanket spying program.

How we respond to governmental requests for data

They cannot request what we don’t have. Any request will have to come from Icelandic judicial authorities. We will only comply if we are legally obliged to do so. But we are not likely to receive requests by governments to hand over user data—simply because we do not have any. This means we are unable to comply with requests, even if they are legally binding.

GetIcelandic.com complies with the GDPR

Even though Iceland is not formally part of the European Union (EU), we fully comply with applicable privacy laws and regulations of the EU, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). These are widely regarded as the strongest privacy protections in the world.

Citizens in the EU have a "right to be forgotten." GetIcelandic.com has that covered since we do not know any personal information about you at all. If you contact us for any reason, all information about you will be permanently deleted as soon as the interaction is complete.
